A rigid four-column frame supports a hydraulic ram on a ram support plate
Two tie-bars with strain gauges pull a loading platform upwards to apply tensile or compressive forces

2x 0.1% 75A Carbon Steel (as drawn) tensile specimens
1x 0.1% 75AN Carbon Steel (normalised at 900oC) tensile specimen
