WIND TUNNEL TEST RIG

WIND TUNNEL” Test Rig Training system has been developed by lab-cart to perform numerous tests of aerodynamics and fluid flow on experimental objects. Our Wind Tunnel is an open circuit system which provides a region of controlled air flow where models are fitted at the downstream. The Tunnel consists of bell mouth shaped entry to guide the air smoothly into settling chamber and stabilizes the air flow this follows working section for test section where various models can be tested. Acrylic sheet window is provided in the Test section for visual observation of the experiments being performed. Diffuser section is present after working section which reduces the dynamic pressure at the exit. A fan coupled with motor is used to produce desired wind velocity.

This lab experimentation system has a facility to interface the system with computer which enables to log the experimental data using computer. A special educational software and data-logging package has been developed for unit. The software environment base is of Lab view of NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS, USA. This software is compatible to interfacing unit designed by K. C. Engineers. This software package provides a comprehensive educational software environment within which the investigations can be performed. This software is capable to tabulate the sample readings according to the requirement of experiment under study and results obtained can be compared. The real time data acquisition is done by interfacing the set-up with computer using software. Software allows the user to have control on data logging, printing the stored data, preparing spread sheets in Excel etc.

Scope of Study:

• To plot speed curve for wind tunnel.
• T study pressure distribution around (A) aerofoil (B) Cylinder (C) Sphere To measure lift and drag on aerofoil model.
• To study the development of boundary layer along a plate in Tunnel.
